DECARBOMILE at Urban Mobility Days – Vilnius

In October 2025, several Decarbomile partners attended Urban Mobility Days in Vilnius. As the European Commission’s flagship conference on urban mobility, Urban Mobility Days (UMD) offers a unique opportunity to network, debate, and exchange ideas with policymakers, local authorities, NGOs, academics, urban transport practitioners, and industry representatives.

This year’s edition took place from 30 September to 2 October in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania and winner of the European Green Capital 2025 award.

UMD 2025 framed urban mobility within the new European Union priorities — “A new plan for Europe’s sustainable prosperity and competitiveness” and “Supporting people, strengthening our societies and our social model.” The conference highlighted cross-cutting topics such as competitiveness, innovation, and tourism, with each of the three days dedicated respectively to urban nodes, cycling, and public transport.

Helena Aguiar, representing Nantes Métropole, presented Decarbomile and the Nantes use cases during a roundtable titled “Cycle logistics at the core of last-mile deliveries.” Alongside other experts from across Europe, the session explored the business models, vehicle types, and urban infrastructure required to support cycle-based distribution. It also examined the challenges faced by traditional logistics operators and discussed strategies to accelerate the transition toward cycle logistics — including the crucial role of urban logistics hubs.
